The Meteorological Service of Canada provides weather forecasts and warnings of severe weather events and hazardous air quality, monitors atmospheric conditions and the quantity of water in Canadian lakes and rivers, forecasts ice and wave conditions on navigable oceans and inland waters, and monitors and predicts the state of the climate. Environment Canada has been and remains a long-term supporter of and participant in the Canada-U.S. Gulf of Maine Council on the Marine Environment. This transboundary ecosystem partnership is based on the free and regular exchange of information and a commitment to keep all parties informed about new developments and opportunities for cooperation. The Gulf of Maine Times newspaper is the premier tool for the Council's outreach and communication efforts and it serves to promote and advance ecosystem-based information among more than 10,000 residents of the Gulf of Maine. Environment Canada is proud to support the GoM Times and to use it to advance it's own priorities and the collaborative relationships we have built over the past 19 years.
